WCQ Review: Faroe Islands 0 – 2 Serbia
This review is going to be a short and qiuck one. Your blogger was extremely busy in the last few days, so he wasn’t able to watch the game and therefore there isn’t much he could write about. Anyway, Serbia defeated Faroe Islands 2-0, courtesy of goals by Milan Jovanović (did I tell you how much i love this player?) and Neven Subotić (the first NT goal for the young lad!) in each of the two halves. Serbia dominated much of the play and had several excellent chances, but the Faroese defended heroically and the goal simply wasn’t going to be scored until Milan Jovanović somehow managed to put the ball in the net in the 44th minute. The Faroese, however, had several chances of their own, so it was quite a relief when Subotić scored a header in the 61st minute to seal the victory for Serbia.
With 18 points from 7 games, Serbia now sit comfortably on the top of Group 7 with 8 points more than France (10 points from 5 games), our only rival for qualification and our next opponent. Raymond Domenech’s side will visit Belgrade on september 9th in a pivotal encounter in which a Serbian victory would ensure that Radomir Antić’s men start packing their bags for a trip to South Africa next summer, while a victory by the French would put them into the driving seat in the race to finish top of the group. In other words, the match against France will be THE game of these qualifiers and of this whole generation. Antić has less than 3 months to prepare his side for that encounter – I assure you that the fans, including myself, can’t wait for that day to come!

Subotic is really comming along. i was hoping Roma (my team) might consider him this season, but it is good to see him developing. there are some other really good defenders comming up through the u21 system; they seemed to do a pretty good job against a dangerous Italian front line. i hope Serbia is able to come up with some more strking power. would love to see them decimate France.

bogomdan, I’m sure you messed things up a little with all the fullbacks.
Thank you, guys, but you named me a perfect (as Antic – I need to say – thinks) and regular lineup. But I asked you about this very game against Faroe Islands. So, you say Krasic played MR and Kuzmanovic – DMC? ok
But can’t you help me one more time? Maybe you heard about this web:
http://www.football-lineups.com/team/Serbia/UEFA_Qualifying_2010/Campaign/
Here are the Serbian lineups for WC’10 qualifying games. I’m sure there is a mistake in Serbian lineup in a game against France as Ergic is a usual CM at Basel while Sulejmani on the other hand can easily play AML. Can you confirm a mistake here? And maybe you see other misses, so please tell me

yes ,mistake in serbian lineup confirm ,sulejmani is CML and Ergic is CM
lineup aganist france
stojkovic
ivanovic vidic krstajic tosic
