Sisters of the Poor Friendly Announced
Serbia and Montenegro is going to play only two warmup friendlies prior to the World Cup: a game against Uruguay on May 27 in Belgrade and a sisters of the poor friendly against an Austrian “regional select” team in Austria on June 4.
That’s all of Serbia and Montenegro’s pre-World Cup friendlies. Ilija Petkovic, Serbia and Montenegro’s head coach, says this all about keeping his players fit and energized for the über-difficult Group C. Is it really though? Or is it all about Serbia being poor as bleep thanks to guys like Slobbo?

“Or is it all about Serbia being poor as bleep thanks to guys like Slobbo?”
Do politics have any place in Sports??? Stfu moron.

Crno,
Yeah… actually politics do have to do with sports. Yugoslavia was banned from some championships before. South Africa was banned for political reasons, and people have boycotted the Olympic games for political reasons.
Serbia and Montenegro(SM)probably isn’t playing too many games because its soccer federation is relatively poor. Every other team is playing a bunch of games, while SM is playing one real game and a game against an “Austrian regional select team”. Seems odd.
Anyway, I will not shut up. In America I can criticize anybody I want to and I will continue to do so. If it bothers you, that’s your problem.

That post has just proven your stupidity………….Who the Fukc decided to allow an American to be a blogger on the Serbo/Montenegrin team?? Go make your feelings about Iraq, Iran and North Korea known to the world, no one cares what your Fascist mind has to say about my nation.

I’m Fascist because I hate Slobbo?
This IS an American created blog (although people from all over blog here). If you don’t like it, go start a Serbian/Aussie blog somewhere and you can genuflect to Serb nationalism all day long for all I care.
What happend in recent history carries over to today’s team. Hell, they might not even be representing the same country come June. And yes, a country’s politics can affect what its sports team can and cannot do. Just look at the mess a lot of African teams have to deal with (Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola, etc…).
It isn’t my problem all this upsets you.

@Lyle: you are the perfect example that sports and politics shouldn’t deal with each other.
Let me talk abt your exmaple: Yugoslavia got a boycot in EM92 because of civil wars. It’s stupid and nonsens to punish sportsmen (who where for 75% not in their native country at that moment) for some kind political problems.
Another example: in Cote D’ivoir ppl are killing eachother in a civil war. Why punish people like Drogba, Koné, Kalou for that by throwing them out of the WC2006?

Arno,
Where do I say anything about punishing Serbia and Montenegro?
I don’t. The post has to do with the fact that Serbia and Montenegro are only playing one real friendly before the World Cup, whereas everybody else is playing several friendlies.
To me, although I might be wrong, this has something to do with how affluent Serbia and Montenegro are. And that has something to do with, get this, POLITICS.
Anyway… Serbia and Montenegro not only is better looking team than the Dutch, but it is better on the field as well. The Dutch won’t score against the Plavi.
Get ready to cry a lot in June Arno.
Down with the Dutch! Down with the Dutch! Down with the Dutch!

Arno, You are very right, sportsmen should not be punished for political problems.
But in the case of SCG; after scoring a goal, the players were blatantly displaying the three finger salute (thumb, index, and middle finger), a sign of hate and discrimination toward other ethnic races associated with Slobos rule. This salute is kindred to the one armed nazi salute.
So in that generations players, ethnic strife trickled down into the their behavour. I have always liked watching Serbia play….Good players that always gave their all..but really hated to see politics enter the field.

@Lyle: a quote from you: “Yeah… actually politics do have to do with sports. Yugoslavia was banned from some championships before”
So, sportsmen former Yugoslav country is punished. I said that before and I say it no. You don not read my previous posting very well.(some words of my previous post: Yugoslavia got a boycot in EM92 because of civil wars. It’s stupid and nonsens to punish sportsmen)
And I have nothing to cry for, Lyle. My roots are Serb roots and Iam supporter of Plavi.
So, stop ridiculous posting against me. Look a little further then only a flag and a first name! Iam not a supporter of the Dutch.
@soze: the three fingers symbol is much older then are telling. You even don’t know the meaning of it.
Why are like you telling others that this something have to do with Slobo? Thats not true.
Comparing with a nazi salute.. Come on, bullshit! Learn your history and not only the 90’s I mean.
But after all, you proof my words: politics is involved in sports, but again and again you begin with it..

I hate the three finger salute. But as long as the Croats are allowed to have that checkerboard govno wich represented the USTASE as the symbol of their nation, their is no problem with us using the 3 finger salute. Btw the Three Finger Salute actually was used by the Nazis and Ustase during World War 2. Ive got sources and Pics to prove it. The rightfull sign of “Father, Son Holly Spirit” should have the two fingers and thumb joined together. The new one that we use, is what it pure and simply a War Symbol (Because we are doing it wrong). Sadly not many Serbs seem to know this, so we mite as well get over it.

Arno and Lyle,
of course politics has nothing to do with sports, but Lyle got it right, that SCG isnt able to play many friendlies because they dont have the money. On the other hand it seems they dont get luxurious offers. This might be becuase they are a tough but an unattractice opponent. Except from Asian teams, nobody wants to play SCG in a friendly. And this has nothing to do with politics … just with SCG being a very very difficult opponent for a friendly …

Althought living in the Netherlands, I always liked Yu-teams and the theams from the independent countries SCG and Croatia, but I can hear some nonsense being mentioned about, besides reasononable opinions likes Rogi e.g.
The three finger salute is much older then and used universally, by non-Serbs as well. Take a look at this link then you know what I mean.

BTW SCG has many European countries not going to the WC which are willing to play, like Russia and Greece and many outside of Europe as well.

Crno Gorac, you’re an idiot!
Just for the record the Croatian Checkerboard was first noted in history as used by the Croatians as far back as 800’s King Tomislav in the year 925 (not 1925) adopted the 5 by 5 pattern, with each square representing a province of Croatia at the time. Yeah it was used by the Ustase but was never a fascist symbol. The Croatian fascist symbol was and still is the capital U.
Serbs have to worry about there own nation and future and stop this history of lies directed to other people especially the Croatians!

Crno Gorac, its awesome how with every post you make, you are able to discredit yourself and Serbia!
Croatian Bitches to Austro-Hungarian? That’s know near accurate.
BTW since you brought up being ‘bitches’ how were Serbians able to remain Christian Orthodox with 500 years of Muslim Ottoman rule?
