Player Profile: Nemanja Vidic

March 10th, 2006 | By: WC Bob | 1 Comment »

VidicThe first thing you need to know about this Serbia and Montenegro defensive stalwart is that he has a webbed foot that has two toes welded together. No wonder the guy can boot the ball so far!

Besides this physical attribute, the 25-year-old Vidic has a lot to offer the Serbia and Montenegro team. A tall, physical defender who is great in air, Vidic was signed by Manchester United in January 2006. His previous clubs include Spartak Moscow and Belgrade Red Star.

Part of Serbia and Montenegro’s “Famous Four” backline, Vidic was a big part of a defense that did not yield a goal in qualifying. Unfortunately for Serbia and Montenegro fans, Vidic will not play the opening round match against Holland because he must serve a penalty for getting a red card in the final minutes of the final qualifying match against Bosnia.

When he does get on the pitch, keep an eye on this web-footed defender!

Here is his Web site.
