Player Profile: Goran Gavrancic

April 5th, 2006 | By: Lyle | No Comments »

Goran Gavrancic is one of Serbia and Montenegro’s “Famous Four” backline. The guy is simply a defensive stud who’ll probably frustrate the hell out of hapless Argentine attackers, breakup Clockwork Oranje, and cage les Elephants.

The 27 year old plays for Dynamo Kyiv and is considered one of the best defenders, if not the best defender, in the Ukrainian league. The “Famous Four” he is a part of only gave up one goal during the qualifying stages of the World Cup. He helped Serbia and Montenegro beat out Spain for first place in their group.

Goran is 1.91 meters tall. Before playing for Dynamo Kiev (where he went in 2002) he played for FK Cukaricki Stankom.

If you know more about Goran, or if you have something to say about him, please feel free to add your thoughts in the comments. Because he plays in the Ukraine I think he is probably an unknown entity to most people, including yours truly.
